Description: Migration from an IMS, COBOL software environment based on IBM mainframes to a DB2, COBOL II software base on IBM midrange systems. DSQ joined hands with IBM, UK to offer the migration services. The entire application base, consisting of over 200 programs, was converted, tested and integrated with other existing systems in a span of 5 months, and in a cost-effective manner.

Client: Interhome, Switzerland

Description: The TOSCA application system at Interhome, a major tour operator in Switzerland, was over 15 years old. As business needs of the client widened, more functionalities were required which needed major modifications to the system. After initial analysis, the DSQ team came up with a layered approach to the migration process involving code re-engineering of the CICS and PL/1 applications .The new structure segregated the Presentation, Logic and Input/output operation modules to facilitate easy maintainability and ease of future migrations. The CICS calls were moved to an independent program module so that the main program becomes less dependent on environment specific calls and routines. Some 19 different programs were taken for the initial pilot and were successfully completed in 3 months. The complete migration is being currently executed offshore.

Description: Offshore maintenance support for large legacy system. Daily production abends were monitored and fixed immediately. The turnaround time was between one day to a week depending upon the severity of the errors. Other type of maintenance support included making enhancements to the legacy systems and adding new functionalities. The legacy systems were using Assembler, COBOL, & IMS DB/DC. The main application was Loan Processing system and included regular loans and revolving lending.

Client: Sukhothai Thammithirat Open University (STOU), Thailand

Description: On-line Student Registration System (OSRS) was developed for Sukhothai Thammithirat Open University (STOU), the largest University in Thailand. For this development, DSQ worked with IBM Thailand (IBMT). DSQ was responsible for User Interface construction in English. It was then tested and the User Interface converted to Thai. This system met most of the requirements of the University's day to day transaction. VisualGen (V2.0) was identified the development tool for this two-tier client server application. In addition, VisualGen's support for DB2 family of products meant that the data could easily be migrated from the MVS based legacy system.

Skills: VisualAge Generator 2.2 under OS/2. The database was created in DB2/2.

Description: Safeway is a departmental chain in UK having several grocery and merchandise outlets . Their application system handles daily stock taking , online processing , billing and procurement . A pilot project was completed successfully earlier following which DSQ has been awarded the complete renovation task by MAGUS International , the primary IS contractor for Safeway . The project is being executed on a time and manpower terms and has been estimated to be completed in 21 man-months. The entire effort spans over 5 million lines of CICS, DB2, COBOL code and will be renovated using Microfocus REVOLVE2000 tool. A windowing logic has been applied for the renovation process as the span of operation was less than 100 years.
